The BAR
The only weapon stump-uglier than the Thompson, and therefore dear to Rico's heart, the Browning Automatic Rifle was the light machine gun of the Second World War in the Allied arsenal.
Sorry mate, the BAR was not good. Only a 20-round magazine, heavy, and couldn't change the barrel. As Ian Hogg said: 'Many GIs swear it was the greatest, but you feel they would have quickly changed their minds had they every used a real light machine gun'. -Peter
This blog is an homage to the War Nerd, who was heavily into politics and strategy, while the War Geek is definitely into hardware. The War Nerd hasn't posted anything since 2008, however, so he's probably off the Web, alas...
